Q & A Blog

Greetings to all,
I am currently sitting in my art history class, I should be listening to the lecture, but I'm suffering the internet. Various fans have sent me questions to anwser on Facebook & Myspace, so I am dedicating this blog to anwsering them! Enjoy, and if you have any additional questions feel free to ask.

As far as relatively reasonably priced cameras go, what would you recommend?
I started out with a canon XTI rebel, 10 MP and deffintely suits the beginner level. Canon recently created the XSI rebel, 12 MP which is a nice upgrade from the XTI. I deffintely recommend it. If you are looking to step it up a level from the beginner status I would go with the Canon 50D or 7D. Just remember its not the camera that makes the images, its the person. Cameras only provide quality. I provided a sample image on the left, that I shot with my XTI

Who would be your dream model to work with?
This is such a tough question, there are so many amazingly stunning models in the fashion industry at the moment. However I will have to say for the female model, Gemma Ward and as for the male Michael Freeby, hands down.

What photo editing software do you use? and what are your favorite tools on the program? I am currently using photoshop CS3 & CS4, my favorite features include the clone tool, levels, and actions.

Do you use lightroom? I have used it on a few different occasions, but personally I'm not a fan of it.

What advice would you have for a student entering the professional industry? Well, considering I am a student myself the best advice I can give you is network. Social networking websites such as facebook, flickr, deviant art, myspace, model mayhem, etc. provide excellent ways to gain additional work for your business, and truly excels in promoting your name. Marketing is key ingrediant to your sucess, so why not take advantage of it, if it is free?

Let's get this party started!

Hello Lovely's,

It's Alicia C. signing in...okay well not really, but I have decided to give this whole "blog" thing another chance. As you've seen before, I have tried to blog and really did not receive much feedback so I hoping this time around it will be much more successful.

It's been an amazing year so far, I have the chance to work with some amazing people including America's Next Top Model Cycle 13 runner-up, Laura Kirkpatrick, Miss Kentucky 2009 Maria Montgomery, and Miss Fierce herself, Catherine Jones. Also, as most of you know I won the Student digital photographer of the year for Digital photography magazine 2009. If you
have not had the chance to check it out yet, I highly recommend it there were some amazing images published in this issue http://www.dphotographer.co.uk/dpoty2009.php also, this particular magazine holds contest monthly if you are interested in entering your images for publication. Today I was informed that I made it into the finalist category for Photography
Forum magazine college student contest, my images will be published in a book this upcoming June, I can not wait!

I believe my next post will include Fan questions, so starting hitting me up my beautiful people! I need at least ten questions, keep is professional is all that I ask I am very excited to hear from all of you. For now I will leave you with a Gustavo Santaolalla song, my favorite musician to listen to while I edit my images. His work reminds me of a whimsical fantasy world, in which I believe inspires me with my conceptual work.

My first post, who is excited?!

Hello to all!

So, I've decided to give in and create a blogspot account! Mainly because I have been receiving tons of emails lately about editing, lighting, and additional photography techniques and what not. Since this is my first post, I figured I would talk about the lastest special events that have been going on in my life, but I'll try not to bore you too much...I tend to sound like a book! Darn college papers...turning me all..well..BLAHish.

During May, I had the joy of traveling to California for the first time! I had the chance to work with Karen Deputy of the Art Farm (wardrobe stylist), Miss Amy Ripp (model), and Heather Weisman (hair & mua). All of them were a blast to colloborate with!

Our first photoshoot, titled Gold was excellent! Let me just say...Karen has the wardrobe collection of a queen! All of us decided to aim for a high fashion desert sort of shoot...although the california heat was a killer..Amy was a total sweetheart about it, and rocked it! Also, Heather done a fantastic job coming up with an interesting hairstyle to suite this edgy look.

Second Photoshoot, was bascially sort of a high fashion abandoned paradise high fashion-edge sort of shoot, I haven't came up with a title yet, so feel free to leave suggestions :)

Last, but certainly not least...the modern day rapunzel meets fashion-vintage!

I deffintely want to thank everyone who participated in this shoot, Karen, Heather, Amy, Travis, & Deborah! You guys are amazing, and I can not wait to work with you again!

Woo first blog! I will be updating hopefully, once a week...as most of you know I'm a college student, so I have the joy of working a summer job! This year, I have an awesome job though working for a program that basically allows teenagers to get a small taste of the college life, which will hopefully influence their decisions on post secondary education.

I'm teaching elements of modern art, as well as taking care of my personal group, and a few other task! I'm quite excited! I will be working from 7:30 am to 11:00 p.m. on most days, so I will be updating on my day off. So check back every saturday :).

Next week, I will be discussing editing and what not! I'm thinking about selling my own personal textures, actions, and tutorials...for a very reasonable price! Anyone interested in me doing so? Just let me know!

Have a great week everyone,

Alicia C.
